Independent Artist Support
Save the world one song at a time.

Nashville, TN – In a time when record labels are reconfiguring and music industry professionals continue to seek out new ways of doing business, Circle Back Music has decided - rather than recreating the wheel - to streamline systems that are proven to work, embrace the Internet's ever-increasing place in the industry, and implement professionals who are experts within their fields to create a one-stop shop for independent artists.

Circle Back Music is a socially responsible, non-corporate, cutting-edge music project that provides independent artist support. They act as a 'tastemaker' digital storefront, a full-service record label, and a tour production & booking company all under one roof, thereby eliminating the need for multiple teams. Circle Back Music's focus is on singer-songwriters, but you will find a wide artistic spectrum underneath that umbrella. The company's roster encompasses everything from folk to pop/rock to acoustic soul.

In addition to providing a one-stop shop for independent artists, Circle Back Music is an eco-friendly company. Their commitment to promoting change is not only visible in how they approach the music industry, it's in how they operate on a daily basis. Circle Back Music incorporates green business practices through utilizing recycled materials in packaging and merchandise, urging and assisting artists to tour in bio-diesel vehicles, recycling and conserving energy in day-to-day operations, purchasing carbon offsets, and donating a portion of their net profits to progressive organizations working to affect change.

The team of specialized professionals is the key to Circle Back Music's success and the success of their artists. Kelly McCartney, the company founder, has worked in the music business for over 18 years with extensive experience in artist development, event production, and management.

AsGeneral Manager, Kelly holds the bigger vision while also being involved in the day-to-day workings of the company. Her background in the music industry is as varied as it is impressive. She has mainly worked one-on-one in the trenches with artists (Susanna Hoffs, Sun 60, Vonda Shepard, Melissa Ferrick, Natalia Zukerman) as a rep of one type or another. As the booker for Genghis Cohen in L.A., she featured many notable singer-songwriters on the rise including Shawn Mullins, Kevin Montgomery, Kristen Hall, Maia Sharp, Martin Sexton, Jill Sobule, and Dar Williams as well as special guests Joni Mitchell and the Bangles. She also spent some time with Virgin Records and Warner/Chappell Publishing handling contracts and copyrights for artists such as David Gray, Ben Harper, Santana, and the Wallflowers. Her passion for music has enabled her to supervise the music for several independent films and serve as a music expert/freelance writer for AllMusic.com which led to a position as the music editor for Velvetpark Magazine. Her diverse background provides the hands-on knowledge of the industry needed to get the most out of each artist's potential at Circle Back Music.

Kelly has a passion for supporting immensely talented artists and exposing people to great music they wouldn't normally discover. She lives by the philosophy of doing good in the world through service to others. The creation of Circle Back Music brings those deep convictions together. Working with Kelly is a dedicated group of professionals who are all experts in their individual fields and come to Circle Back Music with enough experience in the music industry to ensure the success of the company and its artists. From tour production to radio promotions, from booking to marketing & PR, the team at Circle Back Music is impressive, to say the least. Jenn Brinn comes to the company from Atlanta, where she was the Director of Marketing at Eddie's Attic, one of the country's most prominent music venues. Jerry Castle heads up Radio Promotions and comes from Big Machine/Universal Records as Northeast Region Promotion & Marketing Director. Mike Henneberger is Circle Back Music's Tour Booking Director. Mike has been at the forefront of national tours and regional runs with the Honda Civic Tours and Vans Warped Tours. Stacie Huckeba, who relocated to Nashville from San Diego, has been responsible for some of the largest festivals and concerts in Southern California. Her past client list includes Southern Comfort, ESPN, SBC, and Major League Baseball, among others. For the business side of Circle Back Music, the group looks to Edward O'Day. Edward's 12-year background in the industry spans business and financial management as well as artist management making him an ideal Sales Director.

The company isn't wasting any time either. They are hitting the ground running with three releases right out of the gate. Joan Jones, Korby Lenker, and Jason Feller are all scheduled for release in July and the company will host a collaborative CD release party for the initial debut releases at the Rutledge in Nashville, Tennessee on July 15th.

The first artist on the Circle Back Music roster is Joan Jones. Joan was the enigmatic front woman of Epic Records' Sun 60. For some 15 years, Joan has been a staple of the L.A. music scene and has shared the stage with Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Ziggy Marley, Cheap Trick, Seal, Fastball, as well as performed at the 1998 and 1999 Lilith Fairs. Korby Lenker hails from Seattle, but has recently relocated to Nashville. Korby is the 2007 winner of the Merlefest songwriting contest where he opened for Elvis Costello. Korby’s latest release, “King of Hearts” received a four-star review in MOJO Magazine proving that he is more than just a songwriter, but can hold his own against internationally acclaimed talent. Jason Feller is the last artist slated for release through Circle Back Music in July. Jason has been quickly gaining notoriety in the Nashville singer-songwriter circles. Additionally, Circle Back Music has releases in the works from the Coal Men, Louise Goffin, and April McClean, among others, while also handling booking for Katie Herzig, Rob Gonzalez, Matthew Perryman Jones, and Clare Burson.

Circle Back Music is a brilliant alternative for artists in a time when signing record contracts can be intimidating and hiring a manager means that artists will have to source out several other companies in order to promote themselves and their music, leaving very little profits for their own pockets. Circle Back Music's ability to bring everything in-house makes for streamlined services and a constant flow of communication. The artist knows that, metaphorically speaking, the left hand is always connected to the right. And because they are only dealing with one company, the artist is able to actually see revenues immediately.

Because the Circle Back Music staff are all experts in their individual fields, collectively they make up one of the strongest promotional teams in the music industry. Circle Back Music takes the legwork out of a struggling artist's career and allows them to do what they do best - create great music. They can trust the company will not only see to it that success is at their fingertips, but is also giving back to the environment and promoting social change. It's a way to save the world one song at a time!
