The U.S. General Services Administration requests proposals for 110,000,000 kWhs of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) for the Architect of the Capitol (AOC). The RECs are being purchased to enable the AOC to purchase RECs equivalent to approximately 100% of the annual electric usage for buildings attributable to the U.S. House of Representatives. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for proposals for Defense Sciences Research & Technology. 5) Solar America

The U.S. Department of Energy, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, requests proposals for the Solar America Initiative PV Technology Incubator. This initiative is targeted at R&D of PV cell and module prototypes with demonstrated functionality in either large-area coupon form or, preferably, prototypes produced in pilot-scale operations. The primary objective is to shorten the timeline for companies to transition prototype and pre-commercial PV technologies into pilot and full-scale manufacture. 6 to 10 subcontracts anticipated for up to $3 million each. The U.S. Department of Energy requests proposals for a Hydrogen Storage Engineering Center of Excellence. 10) Climate Change and Water Quality

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for Consequences of Global Change for Water Quality, and Early Career Projects. 11) Preventing Water Crisis and Conflict in the West

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Denver Office, requests proposals for Water 2025: Preventing Crisis and Conflict in the West. This initiative will support on-the-ground construction projects that will create water markets and make more efficient use of existing water supplies. Increasing the efficiency of existing water delivery systems across the West will help prevent crises and conflicts and significantly increase future water supplies for farms, cities, people, and the environment. $4 million expected to be available, up to 60 awards anticipated. 12) Biomaterials

The National Science Foundation seeks proposals for the Biomaterials Program, for projects focused on the study of biologically related materials and phenomena, including biological pathways to new materials. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announces its intent to requests proposals for the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program Phase I. 19) Enhanced Geothermal Systems

The U.S. Department of Energy announces its intent to request proposals for Enhanced Geothermal Systems, to demonstrate reservoir stimulation techniques at existing geothermal fields; establish an EGS field validation site where DOE and its partners can perform high-risk experiments under actual field conditions; develop new sensors, down-hole tools, and mapping capabilities able to operate at greater depths and higher reservoir temperatures; and provide outreach to the geothermal community to convey the benefits and potential opportunities of EGS technologies. The U.S. Department of Agriculture requests proposals for Value Added Producer Grants. This program helps eligible independent producers of agricultural commodities, agricultural producer groups, farmer and rancher cooperatives, and majority controlled producer based business ventures develop strategies to create marketing opportunities and to help develop business plans for viable marketing opportunities. The purpose of CIG is to stimulate innovative conservation approaches and technologies while leveraging the federal investment in environmental enhancement and protection, in conjunction with agricultural production. The Natural Resource Stewardship Network requests proposals from residents of King County, WA for community-based projects that engage young people in activities related to community trees, forests, greenbelts or wooded areas.
