Honor the Earth: Music: Concerts & Tours: 2000: Beneficiaries

 

The Honor the Earth Tour will support grassroots Native environmental groups along the tour route, including the work of:

Native Action - Montana
Native Action is a grassroots economic empowerment and environmental justice organization based in Lame Deer on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. Funds will support Native Action's statewide Get Out the Indian Vote Campaign.

OGD - Utah
Ohngo Guadedah Devia (OGD) is a grassroots group of tribal members from the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation in Utah working to stop a consortium of eight utilities from constructing a high level nuclear waste dump on their reservation.

Environmental Justice Foundation - Utah
The Environmental Justice Foundation is a Native group spearheading the legal effort to prevent a high level nuclear waste dump on the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation.

Western Shoshone National Council - Nevada
As the traditional governing body of the Western Shoshone Nation, the Western Shoshone National Council is seeking to uphold the 1863 Treaty of Ruby Valley and stop a federal nuclear waste dump on their lands at Yucca Mountain, Nevada.

Dine C.A.R.E. - Arizona
Dine Citizens Against Ruining the Environment is an all-Navajo environmental organization based within the Navajo homeland that strives to educate and advocate for traditional teachings and provide a voice for all life. Funds will support Dine C.A.R.E's work to seek justice and treatment for Navajo radiation victims and help prevent further radiation poisoning.

ENDAUM - Arizona:
The Eastern Navajo Dine Against Uranium Mining is a grassroots Navajo group working to stop Hydro-Resources, Inc. from opening new uranium mines on the reservation.
