Honor the Earth: Music: Concerts & Tours: 1996

This year, Indigo Girl Amy Ray’s record company Daemon Records released a benefit CD called Honor. The CD featured original music by twenty Native and non-Native artists including Indigo Girls, Soul Asylum, Bonnie Raitt, Ulali, Indigenous, Matthew Sweet, Keith Secola and the Wild Band of Indians, Luka Bloom, Rusted Root, Latin Playboys, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. To promote this CD, Honor the Earth held three fundraising events, issued public service announcements by the artists via radio, and held an advertising campaign. In the first seven years after the CD’s release, 15,000 CDs had been sold and $61,000 had been raised.
