Honor the Earth is committed to energy conservation or "negawatts" as the foundation of our alternative energy work. As we recognize that the US is the largest energy market in the world and the largest producer of greenhouse gases, we must work towards diminishing this consumption. Buying green power is not a replacement for reducing consumption and any movement toward renewable energy must begin with conservation and efficiency.

Honor the Earth knows that we cannot buy our way out of any energy crisis, and our work arises out of the need to understand where our energy comes from and the effects it has on the land and our communities. In turn, we believe this knowledge empowers people to be more conscious of their energy use, to reduce their consumption, and to seek out cleaner, more sustainable sources of energy such as wind and solar power.
