“In the end/In-de-an” The Diptych is a play on words, both with the same imagery in the background. The word relates to the apocalyptic stereotypical image the “end of the trail” of yesteryear. This exemplifies immense technology and the ideology of destruction. The romanticized notion of the “Indian” on the horse has been lost in redundant themes. We (Native people) assimilated or adapted to this modernization but still try to cling to our cultures and languages. The message I am conveying is stay “Indian” (native) to the very end and to stay true to yourself. The nuclear explosion is a metaphor for your death or ending. The image is a parody of the “end of the trail,” which transforms into a true paradox of contemporary Native American life. Ryan Singer
