Alaska Federation of Natives The mission of AFN is to enhance and promote the cultural, economic and political voice of the entire Alaska Native community. AFN's major goals are to: Advocate for Alaska Native people, their governments and organizations, with respect to federal, state and local laws; Foster and encourage preservation of Alaska Native cultures; Promote understanding of the economic needs of Alaska Natives and encourage development consistent with those needs; Protect, retain and enhance all lands owned by Alaska Natives and their organizations; and Promote and advocate for programs and systems which instill pride and confidence in individual Alaska Natives. Alaska Native Knowledge Network The Alaska Native Knowledge Network is designed to serve as a resource for compiling and exchanging information related to Alaska Native knowledge systems and ways of knowing. It has been established to assist Native people, government agencies, educators and the general public in gaining access to the knowledge base that Alaska Natives have acquired through cumulative experience over millennia. Alaska Native Science Commission The mission of the Alaska Native Science Commission is to endorse and support scientific research that enhances and perpetuates Alaska Native cultures and ensures the protection of indigenous cultures and intellectual property. The Alaska Native Science Commission was created to bring together research and science in partnership with the Native community. It serves as a clearinghouse for proposed research, an information base for ongoing and past research and an archive for significant research involving the Native community. For more information:
