I am writing to urge you to take action now to support alternative energy development and conservation in the United States. As my representative to the U.S. Congress, you can support all current and emerging American Indian funding and legislation to support clean, renewable energy so we can reduce our dependency on non-renewable resources.

Indigenous Peoples in North America have a special opportunity to help reduce emissions of the world's worst carbon dioxide emitter - the U.S.A. - by meeting the Kyoto targets set forth by the international environmental community. Wind turbines on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations alone could generate enough clean, renewable energy to meet the Kyoto targets for all of North America! Tribes cannot develop their clean alternative energy potential without Congressional support for funding and legislation. We must level the playing field for tribes and renewable energy in order to provide access to the federal transmission grids. Tribal renewable energy sources have the potential to offset global warming and climate change, and augment national security by building sustainable homeland economies. Please support these critical efforts.
